Home Network
Installation Sarasota FL

Mesh systems fail in Florida homes because block walls and stucco over metal lath stop WiFi, and mesh depends on WiFi to reach the next unit. We wire each access point back with Cat6 instead — one network name, full speed in every room, and coverage that reaches the lanai and the pool deck.

Why Your WiFi Is Bad

Florida Homes Are Built to Block WiFi

Nothing is wrong with your internet speed. You can prove it by standing next to the router. The problem is everything between the router and the room you are in: concrete block walls, stucco applied over metal lath, tile roofs, and impact-rated windows with metallic coatings — all of which absorb the exact frequencies WiFi uses.

A mesh system is the wrong answer to that, and the reason is simple: mesh units reach each other over the air. Each hop spends roughly half the available speed relaying traffic, so by the second or third unit there is very little left — and in a block home the units often cannot hear each other well in the first place. Adding a fourth makes it worse, not better.

A wired access point has no hop to lose. Every one gets its own Cat6 cable back to the switch, so each covers its area at full speed. They share one network name and hand your phone off as you walk, exactly like the WiFi in a good hotel — because that is the same equipment and the same method.

Where WiFi Dies in a Sarasota Home

These are the same six rooms on almost every estimate we write. If you recognise two of them, the network is the problem — not the internet plan.

The lanai and pool deck

Screen and stucco between you and the router. The most common dead spot in the county, and the one people most want fixed, because it is where they actually sit.

The primary suite

Usually the furthest room from where the provider put the modem, and usually with a block wall and a bathroom in between. Streaming buffers at night.

The second floor

Signal has to pass through a floor and often a concrete slab. One bar upstairs while the living room is perfect is the classic symptom.

The garage or workshop

Concrete on all sides plus a steel door. Smart garage openers and freezer sensors drop off constantly and nobody knows why.

The guest house or casita

A separate structure. No indoor access point will cover it — it needs its own, fed by a cable, and sometimes fiber if it is far.

The dock and waterfront

Wide open but a long way from the house. Needs an outdoor access point aimed deliberately, not leftover signal from inside.

What We Install

One Network, Designed for Your Floor Plan

We install Ubiquiti UniFi — the equipment professional IT departments use — sized to the house rather than to a box on a shelf.

Ceiling Access Points

WiFi 6 and WiFi 7 access points mounted flush in the ceiling where coverage is best, not sitting on a shelf behind a television. Powered over the same Cat6 cable, so no outlet is needed.

Cat6 to Every Point

A dedicated cable to each access point, plus wired drops to offices, media rooms, and desks where a cable always beats WiFi. Run through attics and soffits in finished homes.

Gateway & Switch

A proper router and PoE switch replacing the provider's all-in-one box. Your modem stays; the part that was failing does not.

Outdoor Coverage

Weather-rated access points under the soffit for the lanai, pool deck, yard, and dock. Designed for the area, aimed at it deliberately.

Separate Guest & Camera VLANs

Guests and smart devices on their own isolated networks. A compromised doorbell or TV cannot reach the computer with your accounts on it.

Set Up and Documented

Named, configured, tested room by room, and left with the passwords and a diagram in your hands. You own it, so you are never locked to us.

Budget Ranges

What a Home Network Costs Here

Real ranges for Sarasota homes, installed and configured. What moves the number is the cable path — attic access and single story is quick, two stories with no attic is not.

Questions Homeowners Ask Us

Can you do this in a finished home without tearing up walls?

Yes — most of our residential work is exactly that. Cable goes through attics, soffits, and interior wall cavities, and access points go in ceilings the cable can reach cleanly. On a single-story Florida home with attic access it is straightforward. If a wall genuinely has to be opened we say so before starting, and we patch what we opened.

Do I have to change internet providers?

No. You keep the provider and the modem, which is how the internet arrives. What gets replaced is the router and WiFi built into their box, because that is the part causing the trouble. Their equipment becomes a modem only.

How long does the install take?

A typical home is one day. Larger homes with wired drops to several rooms are two. We work around your schedule, and we clean up — no cable left hanging and no attic insulation on the floor.

Is this better than the mesh system I already bought?

Measurably, and in the far rooms the difference is not subtle. Mesh loses about half its speed on every hop between units, and Florida block-and-stucco construction is what makes the units struggle to hear each other. A wired access point has no hop and no loss. We are happy to test your current speeds in the problem rooms during the estimate so you see the actual numbers rather than taking our word for it.

Can the same network run my cameras?

Yes, and it should — but on its own separated segment. Cameras, smart TVs, thermostats, and locks go on an isolated VLAN, so a cheap connected device cannot become a path into the computer with your accounts on it. The apps still work exactly as normal.

What if I have a guest house or a detached garage?

It needs its own access point fed by a cable, because no indoor unit will cover a separate structure. Where the building is far from the house — or where cameras out there have already been lost to a storm — the right link between the two is often fiber rather than copper, which we also install.

What happens if something breaks later?

Call us. We are a local Sarasota company with a physical office on South Tamiami Trail, not a national call centre, and the equipment we install carries manufacturer warranty on top of our labour. Because we hand over the documentation and passwords, any competent technician can also work on it — you are not locked to us.
